Giant Speculations

Two interesting posts by Tim Chaffey:

Odysseus and his men blind the cyclops Polyphemus. Does the Bible provide any historical support for such a legendary encounter?

I personally do not believe that man became giant as result of interbreeding with angels.

"There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."  Genesis 6:4

Genesis here states that these are indeed "men".  It is a stretch to site the law of first mention, say that the Book of Job is older than this account in Genesis (another thing that I do not believe) and to say that the "sons of God" in Genesis are angels.  Man and angels are God's sons.

Nearly everything before the flood was larger than it is today.  This is evident in the fossils that the flood created (as opposed to post flood, mostly ice age, fossils).  I believe that man was simply taller before the flood.  Giants persisted at least to the time of king David.

Carbon-14 Found in Dinosaur Fossils (ICR)

Carbon-14 Found in Dinosaur Fossils
Honestly carbon-14 is only good for around 5,000 years or less.  It's half life is too short.  This is great if you believe Genesis 1-11.
